Secure Multiparty Computation - a technology with promises for privacy
In 2008 the worlds first large-scale practical application of Secure Multiparty Computation (SMC) was carried out in Denmark. SMC is a technology which lets you work on encrypted values without ever decrypting them! This may sound counter-intuitive, but using novel cryptographic tools this is indeed possible. In this talk we present the technology, the first application (an auction system), and provide some perspectives on other applications. Focus will be on applications demonstrating the impact of SMC on privacy.
