Privacy on the Internet
The introduction of the Internet has revolutionised our world, but at the same time it has given us many issues to discuss regarding privacy and surveillance. These issues are going to get more prominent in the future, because technology is getting more and more refined, and it will be easier to monitor our every move online.
Do you know what they know about you? In your daily life you leave several electronic traces behind you: payments with your credit card show which products you buy, cameras around town show where you have been and when, emails show what you have written and to whom etc. At the same time an insurance company may obtain information regarding your health, which can influence your ability to obtain a cheap insurance.
By including privacy in new technology, it will be possible to put a stop to many of the privacy and surveillance issues.
This will be discussed in the European Parliament in October where I will host a conference on “Privacy in the Digital Age”.
